You open Framer's Experts directory, or a studio's site, and see a badge. What does it mean? This post answers that one question, using Framer's own help article, "Become a Framer Expert", updated 2 Oct 2026. If you are comparing studios more broadly, read our guide to choosing a Framer agency for SaaS.
What is a Framer Expert?
In Framer's words, "Framer Experts are freelancers and agencies who build client websites in Framer" (Framer Help, Become a Framer Expert, updated 2 Oct 2026, fetched 25 Oct 2026).
Being an Expert gets three things, according to the same article:
- A listing in the official Experts directory, "where clients look for people to build their site".
- Leads. Framer sends client requests to Experts "based on their profile and work".
- Commission. Transfer a finished project to a client and earn "up to 50% commission when they buy a plan".
So the badge is a sign of membership in Framer's directory and referral program. It is not a certificate or an exam.
How does someone become a Framer Expert?
The bar is clear and short.
Framer says an applicant's Community profile "needs an avatar, a short bio, a poster image and at least two published sites. Each site must be built in Framer and hosted on a custom domain." Agencies "need at least two people". People who work alone apply as individuals.
Then: "Submit the apply form and you're an Expert right away." The FAQ adds that the form only opens once the profile meets the requirements, "so there's no review to wait for".
That tells you something useful. Every Expert has at least two real Framer sites live on real domains. It does not tell you anyone at Framer judged how good those sites are.
What is a Pro Expert?
Pro Expert is the next level, and it is earned with client work, not applied for.
This section describes Framer's program in general. It is not a claim about any one studio, ours included.
Framer: "Earn $500 in commission from one or more client handoffs and you become a Pro Expert automatically, with no second application." Commission is earned "when a client accepts a Project Transfer and buys a plan."
Pro Experts get, per the same article:
- A free full editor seat on client projects, "so your client doesn't pay for your seat".
- Higher placement in the Experts directory.
- More client matches, faster.
- use 50% fewer Agent credits per prompt.
What does the badge tell a buyer?
Here is the honest reading.
An Expert badge tells you this person or team has at least two live Framer sites on custom domains and is listed in Framer's directory.
A Pro Expert badge also tells you they have handed finished projects to clients who then bought Framer plans, enough to earn $500 in commission. That is evidence of real client handoffs, not just personal projects.
Neither badge tells you about design quality, strategy, copy, speed or how they treat clients. Framer's Expert Terms say it does not endorse or guarantee any Expert or the quality of their work (Framer Expert Terms, effective 2 Oct 2026, fetched 25 Oct 2026).
What should you check beyond the badge?
Treat the badge as a starting filter. Then do four checks.
- Open the live sites. On your phone. Tap the buttons. Do they load fast? Can you tell what each company does?
- Ask who does the work. An agency listing needs two people. Ask who on the team will design and build your site.
- Ask about the handoff. Framer's Project Transfer moves the project to you as owner. Framer's Pro Expert status depends on this, so a Pro Expert has done it before. Ask them to walk you through it.
- Ask for references. A past client who will take a short call tells you more than any badge.
Where do you find Framer Experts?
In Framer's own Experts directory, linked as Hire Experts on framer.com. Profiles there show the person or team and the sites they built.
Two tips. First, read each site's page on the profile. Framer asks Experts to explain "the brief, your approach, and the result for the client", so a thin description is a signal too. Second, Pro Experts rank higher in the directory. That helps you find people with client handoffs, but it is not a ranking of skill.
Does a Pro Expert cost you more?
Not because of the badge. Framer's article lists no fee for buyers.
One perk helps you directly. Pro Experts "join client projects as a full editor at no cost, so your client doesn't pay for your seat". If your studio keeps editing after launch, that is one less seat on your bill.
The commission is paid by Framer to the Expert when you buy a plan. Ask your studio to be open about it. A good partner will tell you plainly.
Is Gr8r a Framer Expert?
Our founder, Tanjim Islam, is a Framer Pro Expert. Gr8r Studio also has its own Framer profile.
That matters to us for one reason: it shows we hand finished projects over. For HostOp, we designed the product, built its Framer website and built an agentic design system for it. Clients own everything once it's paid for.
